Product information "Salvage Tug Ulises"

The Ulises was a salvage tug for use on the high seas. In the 1960s, there was extremely heavy trade traffic on the seas. The merchant ships were exposed to many dangers from storms and rough seas. The salvage tugs were of vital importance, as they ensured that wrecked ships reached the nearest harbour safely. At that time, metal was the predominant material for shipbuilding. The hardness of steel was utilised in the construction of the hull, while wood was used for the panelling of the steering and crew areas.

The kit contains all the parts required to build the model. Only selected wood is used for the double panelling. The basic framework is built using a frame construction method. All frames are laser-cut and fit perfectly. Nothing needs to be sawn out by hand, only the planks need to be adjusted. All fittings and add-on parts are prefabricated to a high quality and are included in the set. The step-by-step instructions are in German and include many step-by-step photos.

The conversion to an RC model is already prepared. However, it makes sense to deviate from the instructions, offset the engine or use a longer shaft. The tug looks really nice with a beautiful brass propeller instead of the black plastic prop.
